CITYWIDE SAFETY
AND RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP
FOR ALL CHICAGOANS
IS THE
DIGITAL-AGE GOAL

The goal can no longer be less violence (violence reduction).

Because violence reduction has no power inspire Chicagoans to make their city safe. It's always been a sorry game played with voters by politicians trying to get themselves elected in cities that couldn't make themselves safe.

Think about it. Chicagoans don't yearn for less violence. Chicagoans yearn for SAFETYfor safe neighborhoods and a safe city where you can go anywhere without fearing for your life.

Sound impossible? Not when you free yourself from the mindnumbing acceptance of violence as a hard, unalterable fact of Chicago life, like brutal Chicago winters.

Chicago's violence is not act of God or nature. It's man-made.

Chicago made itself violent. Chicago can make itself SAFE.

Chicagoans will work hard to make Chicago safe when they see their elected leaders working hard with each other and the people of Chicago to do so.

The flip side of the coin? Chicago will KEEP ITSELF VIOLENT until its leaders and residents can see each other, day in and day out, working to make Chicago SAFE on Chicago TV and other local media.

Visible, engaged citizenship is key. And dynamic uses of digital-age media can make citizenship visible citywide.
